A good read on straight edge shaving

One of the regulars over at my favourite shaving forum also writes articles for his local newspaper. Recently he wrote one on straight edge shaving which I found to be a good read.

New slant is being released soon

From time to time a new razor hits the market – but very few of them are slants… and I like slants.

I’m rather excited about the promised RazoRock Slant, but I probably wont be the first to buy – I like seeing what others think before I hand over my cash.

Ten points for style, minus five hundred for technique – I will not let him shave my crop, no matter how daintily he might do it…

While some of us think one blade is best…

…others still fall for the “more = better” fallacy. Courtesy of 3D printers and people with – in my opinion – misguided ideas, I present the 20 blade razor!

Although in all fairness, the guy who uploaded the pattern for it claims it’s for removal of body hair, as opposed to the time honoured, rugged and manly art of shaving ones face.

Shaving in space, part 2

Apollo 10 featured the first “shave in space“, where the crew used “safety razors, a thick shaving gel and a wet cloth to do the work.” – after testing showed that electrical shavers with vacuum attachments didn’t work. A little later, during the ground breaking Apollo 11 mission, astronaut Michael Collins used a Techmatic razor and Old Spice brushless cream.

This Techmatic and tube of cream, to be specific. Off course, now I need work out a visit to the National Air and Space Museum the next time I’m in the US – just so I can ogle a razor that’s been in space…

It is shaving… but it’s in spaaaace!
