Shave of the day 11th january

Pre-shave: Dr Bronner’s Liquid Orange Soap
Lather: Arko Cool Mint cream and Derby shave stick
Brush: Semogue TSN 2012 LE mixed badger-boar
Razors: Racer and Yuma, both with a Racer blade
Post-shave: Cool water rinse, alum, and Krampert’s Finest Bay Rum

Still experimenting with combining shavesticks and cream – thirsty, dense lather with a very noticeable citrus scent. DFS though, and nick free.

Make your own shave gear

The post the other day where I showed an old time razor made from a bent metal plate made me think of 3D printed razors. I figured that if I could come up with that idea, so could other clever people, so I headed over to Thingiverse – one of the better known places online to share all things 3D printed.

No razors – at least that I could find – but plenty of shaving gear. A few I liked:
– A fancy razor stand
– A less fancy razor stand
– A combined razor and brush stand
– A combined razor and brush ‘hang’
– A shave brush handle
– A blade disposal box

Now, if I could only justify spending a huge wad of cash to buy a 3D printer I would have all the razor stands I would ever need… but no printed razor.

Shave of the day 9th January

Pre-shave: Dr Bronner’s Liquid Lavender Soap
Lather: Arko Cool Mint cream and GzD shave stick
Brush: Vie Long 14033 mixed horse-badger
Razors: Racer and Yuma, both with a Racer blade
Post-shave: Cool water rinse, alum, and Krampert’s Finest Bay Rum

Yet another DFS with a mixed lather.

More old time razors

Stumbled over an interesting web page the other day; Origins of the safety razors.
Lots of interesting razors, even if I like the so called Pig Scraper the most:

I can actually see making something like this on a modern 3D printer, suitable modified to use a modern SE or DE blade… shouldn’t me too hard.

Shave of the day 7th January

Pre-shave: Dr Bronner’s Liquid Teatree Soap
Lather: Arko Cool Mint cream and Arko shave stick
Brush: Turkish No6
Razors: Racer and Yuma, but with a fresh Racer blade
Post-shave: Cool water rinse, alum, and Krampert’s Finest Bay Rum

Harking back to an experiment I did a couple of months ago, I’ve started an experiment… one that today resulted in rich, creamy lather and a damn fine shave – as usual.

Shave of the day 4th January

Pre-shave: Dr Bronner’s Liquid Lavender Soap
Lather: Derby lavender Cream
Brush: Turkish No7
Razors: Cadet TP-01 and Cadet TTO-13, both with Green Astra
Post-shave: Cool water rinse, alum, and Proraso Liquid Cream After Shave

Yet another DFS.

First loot of the year 2013 – soap

Got the first loot of the year today; a huge order of shaving- and bath soaps from Mike’s Natural Soaps.

Shave of the day 2nd January

Pre-shave: Oatmeal soap
Lather: RazoRock XXX
Brush: Vie Long 14033 horse-badger brush
Razors: Cadet TP-01 and Cadet TTO-13, both with Green Astra
Post-shave: Cool water rinse, alum, and Kramperts Finest Bay Rum

First shave of this year, and the first with the RazoRock croap in a long time. DFS.

Looking back

This attempt at documenting my wetshaving journey have been up less than a year – first post went up early in April – but I come a long way since then. Not only have the amount of things in my shave den exploded, but so has the number of hits on this blog – off to a slow start with less than 40 hits the first month, quickly growing to about five hundred a month before a new spike in December. All told not far from 4000 hits so far, which is not bad for a blog that is 3/5ths about what lather and razor I used at any given day…
It’s been fun so far – and I’ll keep writing this blog as long as I enjoy shaving and I has the time to do so. Have a Happy and Well Shaven New Year!

Shave of the day 31st December

Pre-shave: Dr Bronner’s liquid Eucalyptus
Lather: Mike’s Pine & Cedarwood
Brush: Semogue TSN 2012 badger-boar brush
Razors: Cadet TP-01 and Cadet TTO-13, both with a fresh Green Astra
Post-shave: Cool water rinse, alum, and Kramperts Finest Bay Rum

Last shave of this year, and a very, very nice one too.
