Colgate’s star points

Colgate shaving cream, had, according to this 1916 advertisement, five star points.

So what were these five star points? Nothing too surprising, by modern standards:

  • It lathered abundantly in both hot and cold water.
  • The lather stayed moist
  • It lathered quickly.
  • The cream didn’t harden when warm
  • And lastly it didn’t get watery when cold

Now, this may just be me and my experiences, but i would worry more about a shaving cream getting too runny in hot weather and too stiff in the cold. But operantly I should worry about the opposite.

And if you don’t want their shaving cream, the advertisement mentions that you can also get it as a stick or powder.
