Use of “fair use” images

On occasion I includes photos and images taken by others. These are covered under fair use, i.e.: for a limited and “transformative” purpose, such as to comment upon, criticise, or parody a copyrighted work.

Rights to these photos and other materials remains with their original copyright owners.

Use of public domain images

On occasion I include images that are in the public domain, i.e.: materials that are not protected by intellectual property laws such as copyright, trademark, or patent laws.

These remain in the public domain, although the rest of the accompanying blog post is covered by the CC-BY-NC-SA license.
